FAQs

WHAT IS TRAVEL SOCCER?
Sandwich Soccer Club holds competitive tryouts to create teams that travel within Southeastern Massachusetts, the Cape, and Islands to play competitive teams from other towns within the South Coast Soccer League. Most games are no more than an hours' ride from Sandwich.

WHAT IS THE SOUTH COAST SOCCER LEAGUE (SCSL)?
Sandwich Soccer Club belongs to the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL), which generally plays teams from Southeastern Massachusetts, the Cape, and Islands. There are two separate seasons of soccer in the SCSL - Fall and Spring.  Tryouts are held for the Spring season only. Fall teams are based on player interest and availability.

For teams in Grades 5-12 (only), there are playoffs at the end of the Spring season, only. Top teams in each grade level are seeded and play for a league championship. Additionally the league winner of each grade level’s first division advances to the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) for a three-day tournament against the winners from other town competitive leagues across the state. The winner of that tournament is crowned as the state champion.

For teams in Grades 2-4 (only), the SCSL offers 'Friendly' tournament matches at the end of the Spring season. Typically in mid-June.

WHEN DO SEASONS TYPICALLY START?

Fall Travel Soccer typically runs from 2nd weekend of September thru 1st weekend of November; registration occurs in June/July. Practices typically start in late August.

Spring Travel Soccer typically runs from 1st weekend of April thru 1st weekend of June; registration occurs during Sept-Nov. Practices typically start in late January (indoors). Practices move outside once weather improves.

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED TIME COMMITMENT FOR MY PLAYER?
Sandwich Soccer Club strives to provide a safe and fun environment to learn and develop soccer skills at all ages/levels. For younger players, there is typically 1 practice per week (held at the coach's discretion) and 1 game per week. Coaches of older age groups may require 2 practices per week.

Games are generally divided equally - home vs away; you will not be traveling off Cape every weekend. All home games are played at the Water District Fields here in Sandwich.

WHERE DO WE PURCHASE OUR CHILD'S UNIFORM?
Travel uniforms are NOT included in the registration fee. Uniforms must be ordered individually by families with children. Currently we use Cape Cod Textiles for all of our travel uniform kits. Information on when/how to order uniforms will be distributed in January/February.
